THE LAST QE2 PORTS OF CALL: TODAY IN SOUTH QUEENSFERRY, EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, UK
The QE2 was welcomed today for the last time in South Queensferry.
Here is an old view of the Forth Rail Bridge and the ferry that used to take cars between South Queensferry and North Queensferry before the Forth Road Bridge was opened in 1964.
This photograph was probably taken around the 1950s and published by the Evening News.
South Queensferry lies on the Firth of Forth about ten miles from the centre of Edinburgh.
When this photo was taken, South Queensferry was well outside Edinburgh.
It had a Rail Bridge and a ferry to North Queensferry in Fife.
Now, South Queensferry lies within the Edinburgh boundary.
It has a Rail Bridge and a Road Bridge to Fife.
